BarTunes App Reviews

Useful

Pretty useful. Icons arent very esthetics but it works correctly

Thanks!

Works as expected. Skipping songs and add star rating from the menu bar. Thanks!

Exactly what I wanted, should be an option in itunes.

Just wanted to say thanks.

Very good !

This app works very well. There are three things that could be improved: - If you quit iTunes before quitting bartunes, bartunes automatically relaunch it. This should not happen. - You can’t quit the app from the dock icon, you need to quit from the top menu. Small annoyance. - a volume button would be welcome. Thanks.

Just right

This is just what I was looking for – easy access to the key iTunes controls at any time from anywhere using a bare minimum of menu real estate. The only weakness is it doesn’t support fractional track ratings. I’m constantly doing those. Because of that, I would have rated this 4.5 stars ;)

Often Just Shows Nothing When Music is Playing

Is an alright utility when it works. But often the app doesn’t register a new song when the music changes — not only is the song name missing, but all the options to rate & love, etc. disappear as well. Clicking pause and then play again registers the song and the options reappear. Still, thx for the free app; it works most of the time.

Not working actually with iTunes v.12.5.3.17

It displays in the menu bar, but does not assume playback whatsoever. Used to work like a charm with the previous version of iTunes, though.

Don’t work on El Capitan

Don’t work on 10.11.2. Please, fix it. And make Apple Music support please.

Good!

Excellent work! Please, add Like button for Apple Music.

Cool

Exactly what I want.

Not working

Application stopped working after updating to 10.11.5 El Capitan

Great App

This was a great application, however stopped working with 10.11.5 and iTunes 12.4.0.199.

Great App, when it works.

Like others, I think this is a good app, but the recent updates (OS X 10.11.5 and iTunes 12.4.0) have made the app stop working. It will start to open, then immediately close. I miss it now that I can’t use it.

Stopped working with iTunes upgrade.

I guess you get what you paid for. Stopped working with new iTunes. No response from develpoer.

Simple, yet effective

Love the ability to rate songs from any desktop without having to navigate back to iTunes. Simple, yet effective. It could be taken to the next level with a keyboard shortcut to access the menu allowing the ability to rate songs without mouse interaction.

Great job

I love this addon companion to itunes. Does what it says it does. The developer is a great guy who acknolwdged my feedback quickly. New version has a slim looks which is good for status area real estate. Im a happy bartunes armchair user.

Its alright

YouControl Tunes has major licensing issues since its "company" doesnt exist anymore and Im tired of figuring out how to fix it everytime I update anything. This kinda does the same thing. It has no ticker for the song name or customizeable icons though. It does display the album cover art inline which is neat. This actually crashes MORE than YouControl Tunes did in El Capitan though haha.

Works well, no problems

The app works fine, although I am a little disappointed that you still need to have iTunes open to be able to play music. Hmmm, not overly happy but its okay for a buck. Maybe playing songs without opening iTunes is possible within the next update? Also, I find the icons for changing songs to be a little to big, making them ugly.

Exactly what I was looking for

Ive tried a number of iTunes-integrated apps -- CoverSutra, Now Playing, Ecoute. All I wanted was a simple way to click through the tracks of an album. This app meets this very nice need perfectly. For me, it was worth a buck.

Almost perfect

One day I was thinking, "I wish I could push a button and see what song was playing on my iTunes without having to open the whole window," and here it is! Not only that, but I can see the album artwork and rate the song. Its fantastic. I wish there were a keyboard shortcut to show the song info, but this is the next best thing.
